Lead Specialist – Commercial Loan Servicing (SBA Focus)

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM ET

Position Summary

The Lead Specialist plays an essential role in supporting the commercial loan portfolio through client support, accurate loan servicing, and timely transaction processing. This role requires strong attention to detail, regulatory compliance, and effective communication skills to ensure seamless client experiences. Working within a collaborative, high-performing team, the Lead Specialist will execute moderate-to-complex loan servicing functions, assist with client inquiries, and help drive operational efficiency while providing excellent internal and external customer service.


Key Responsibilities

  • Administer commercial loan servicing activities, including documentation review, processing, and reporting

  • Process commercial monetary transactions such as loan funding, payment applications, and fee adjustments

  • Post DDA entries via APA to Hogan system; prepare cashier checks and process outgoing wires

  • Balance general ledger entries via Automated Posting Application (APA) and resolve discrepancies with Accounting

  • Perform loan maintenance transactions in CLS, including borrowing base and advance paydown ticklers

  • Research and resolve payment issues, misapplied funds, or client account discrepancies

  • Review reports regularly to maintain system integrity and minimize customer impact

  • Respond to customer inquiries, billing requests, and complaints with professionalism and accuracy

  • Provide guidance to less experienced team members and assist in process improvements

  • Ensure compliance with SBA regulations, internal policies, and banking standards


Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required; Bachelor's in Finance or Accounting preferred

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in commercial loan servicing

  • Strong knowledge of SBA loan programs (7a, 504) and servicing requirements

  • Understanding of accounting principles and familiarity with CLS/CL3 and LoanIQ systems

  • Excellent analytical, research, and problem-solving skills

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills

  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple systems, and meet deadlines

  • Knowledge of banking policies, procedures, and government regulations
