Maintenance Technician
JOB SUMMARY The role involves maintaining all converting and corrugating equipment to minimize downtime, ensuring optimal performance and quality product output. Responsibilities include practicing safe work habits, troubleshooting programmable controllers and A/C and D/C drives, and utilizing maintenance software effectively. The position requires planning and scheduling maintenance tasks, assigning work to team members, and following up to ensure quality repairs. Candidates must maximize equipment utilization, complete accurate paperwork, maintain good housekeeping, and adhere to company policies. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Adhere to safe work practices at all times.
- Align rolls and adjust settings for optimal equipment performance and quality production.
- Train other maintenance staff on qualifications and procedures.
- Troubleshoot and repair programmable controllers, A/C and D/C drives, and their control systems.
- Utilize all features of the maintenance software program.
- Plan and schedule maintenance work, delegating tasks based on team capabilities.
- Verify that repairs and work are completed correctly.
- Maximize equipment uptime by maintaining machinery at peak capacity and speed.
- Complete paperwork accurately and per company guidelines.
- Work flexible hours and shifts as required.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas.
- Comply with all company policies, including safety and housekeeping standards.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED.
- Demonstrated proficiency in all Class B maintenance qualifications.
- Provide personal tools required for maintenance tasks.
- Preferred experience in the corrugated industry or as a forklift operator.
- May need a current Lift Truck Operator License or other relevant certifications.
- Ability to read and interpret work orders, specifications, and machine drawings.
- Proficient in using a tape measure with speed and accuracy.
- Capable of performing calculations involving percentages, measurements, volume, and rates, using high school math concepts.
TOP REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to perform preventive maintenance.
- Proficiency with PLC systems.
- Strong mechanical skills.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS The role requires standing for extended periods, frequent walking, squatting, climbing, bending, crouching, pushing/pulling, carrying, working at heights, and using hands for tasks like reaching and operating a computer or radio. Candidates must speak and listen frequently, lift up to 20 pounds regularly, and work in environments with excessive heat or cold on uneven surfaces.
