Senior Tax Advisor – Wealth Management Firm
A Registered Investment Advisor located in the Southern Tier of New York is seeking a Senior Tax Advisor to join our collaborative Wealth Management Team. This key position will partner closely with both our Tax and Investment teams to deliver proactive tax planning, strategic guidance, and tax preparation services to our clients.
Position Summary:
The Senior Tax Advisor will play a critical role in ensuring clients' financial strategies are optimized from a tax perspective. Responsibilities include:
- Preparing and reviewing complex federal and state income tax returns for individuals, trusts, partnerships, and corporations.
- Supporting the tax planning process by identifying opportunities to minimize tax liabilities and providing detailed analyses and strategic recommendations.
- Conducting tax research, primarily focused on federal individual tax matters, with occasional work related to trusts, corporations, pass-through entities, tax-exempt organizations, and select state tax issues.
- Reviewing and analyzing bookkeeping records for accuracy and compliance with tax reporting requirements for clients receiving tax or bookkeeping services.
- Preparing journal entries on a monthly, quarterly, or year-end basis to ensure accurate financial reporting and adherence to GAAP.
- Assisting with audit preparation and representation when necessary.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics with relevant tax coursework.
- Active CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or EA (Enrolled Agent) designation.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in tax compliance and strategic planning.
- Proficiency in professional tax software (e.g., Lacerte, CCH, or GoSystem Tax RS).
- Experience with QuickBooks (both desktop and online versions).
