Laser Operator

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret production paperwork to determine manufacturing requirements.

  • Verify that supplied materials meet production specifications.

  • Remove cut pieces from sheet material and inspect for defects such as edge quality and surface imperfections.

  • Accurately complete production paperwork and timekeeping records, including In-Process and Final Audit Reports.

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area in compliance with 6S Standards.

  • Follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • Properly complete and attach identification tags to produced parts.

  • Read blueprints to identify key characteristics requiring monitoring, seeking assistance when needed.

  • Monitor calibration of department equipment.

  • Use precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and height gauges to verify part conformance.

  • Perform basic maintenance on laser machines, including gas and nozzle changes and nozzle centering.

  • Participate in on-the-job training and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Support company quality objectives and actively contribute to achieving them.


Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Authorized to place HOLD tags on suspect or nonconforming products in accordance with NCMR procedures.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED.

  • Experience: 1–2 years of manufacturing or machine operation experience preferred.
