We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Purchasing Supervisor to oversee procurement activities within our manufacturing facility. This role will support the purchasing team by purchasing and negotiating materials, equipment, supplies, electronic components, metal and board fabrication. The ideal candidate has a strong background in manufacturing procurement, excellent negotiation skills, and a proactive mindset focused on supplier performance, timely deliveries and cost efficiency.
Key Activities and Responsibilities:
- Supervise and support the daily activities of the purchasing team.
- Purchase to fulfill material requirements per Master Production Schedule (MPS) and Material Requirement Planning (MRP)
- Source, negotiate, and maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers.
- Ensure timely procurement of raw materials, components, outside processing SOWs, tools, and equipment to meet production s schedules.
- Monitor supplier performance and ensure compliance with company quality standards and delivery timelines.
- Maintain Approved Vendor List (AVL) and facilitate onboarding of new suppliers
- Coordinate with production, planning, engineering, and quality departments to forecast demand and maintain optimal inventory levels.
- Review and approve purchase orders in accordance with company policies and budget constraints.
- Resolve supplier issues, including delays, defects, or supply shortages.
- Assist in developing and implementing cost-saving initiatives and process improvements.
- Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and inventory.
- Stay up-to-date with market trends and changes in supply chain conditions.
- Ensures all procurement deliverables are met for manufacturing readiness, including tooling, capital equipment, supplier selection, outside processing SOWs, and materials
- Ensures procurement actions are documented, communicated and closed by the assignee in the timeframe required. Provides weekly written status to leadership.
- Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; develops alternative solutions; works well in a team atmosphere.
- Resolve outstanding invoice and payment discrepancies in coordination with accounting
- Support Engineering team in California, by purchasing required materials, tools and equipment.
- Coordinate with Accounting and Receiving Departments the processing of California orders.
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in purchasing or procurement, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- 1–2 years of supervisory or team lead experience.
- Strong knowledge of purchasing and supply chain best practices.
- Familiarity with ERP systems (Made2Manage).
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Certification in supply chain or purchasing (e.g., CPM, CPSM, APICS).
- Experience with lean manufacturing or just-in-time (JIT) inventory practices.
