CNC Programmer (RESUME REQUIRED)
This is a direct hire position with a salary of 47k-58k
Experience with Amada Vipros 357 punch press preferred
Description:
- Plans program to control machining of metal parts by automatic machine tools using g-code.
- Analyzes blue prints and engineering drawings to determine dimension of parts and configuration of cuts.
- Determines type and size of cutting tools according to type of metal stock and shape of cut.
- Determines position of metal stock on machine fixture and point on stock at which machining should start.
- Draws sketches of part to plan number, location and direction of cutter paths.
- Establishes location of tool set point, starting point cutter and change points by two dimensional coordinates according to reference point and location of stock on fixture and plots cutter paths on graph paper.
- Calculates radii of simple and complex irregular curves using computer assistance.
- Prepares program sheet for direction of operators in transcribing data onto g-code controls, including step-by-step directions for movement of machine cutter, change-point to change-point in two dimensional coordinates and data, such as feed rate, cutter speed, and direction in symbolic language.
- Verifies g-code with written plans for accuracy.
- Observes machining of first part produced by automatically controlled machine to verify accuracy of programming. May determine suitability of part for machining by automatic machines.
- Perform maintenance on NC and CNC machines as directed by the Manufacturing Manager.
- Estimate and requisition sheet material for upcoming jobs.
- Check drawing receipts against transmittal sheets for accuracy and completeness.
- Coordinate NC and CNC machine maintenance.
- Maintain proper maintenance schedules on all machinery and keep proper records concerning that maintenance.
- Attend and participate in weekly production meetings to ensure other departments fully advised of the production schedule.
- Has no authority over but works closely with human resources, purchasing, engineering and sales.
- Verify CNC programs with prints for correct calculations.
- Maintain drawing transmittal log.
- Program and nest punch press sheet steel programs from .dxf files, g-codes, AutoCad drawings or hand sketches as necessary.
- Track steel sheet inventory and maintain steel allocation.
- Write g-code programs in 2D form from AutoCad.
- Operate CNC and Punch Press when needed.
- Form parts and materials according to print design.
- Investigate and answer questions concerning use, capabilities and operation of NC and CNC machines.
- Maintain tooling inventory for punch press and brake press and requisition tooling as necessary to maintain workflow.
- Organize and maintain the drawing transmittals.
- Adhere to all applicable safety rules.
- Ability to draw and read blueprints.
- Basic knowledge of AutoCad software.
- Knowledge in CNC programming and operations.
- Training on 2D CAD-CAM and Basic Vipros
