Nesco Resource is searching for an experienced LEAD PROCESS TECHNICIAN to work with an established manufacturer in the Rochester area.
 
Job Summary
 
Under the supervision of the Operations Manager, the Lead Process Tech performs all tasks necessary to ensure customers receive quality parts in a timely manner. Performs start-ups, material set-ups, and regular visual inspection, gaging, problem solving, ensures conformance with established acceptance criteria. Maintains a high level of accuracy in a clean and efficient manner. The Lead Process Tech oversees all daily activities on their assigned shift, such as placing and guiding production operators as well as ensuring efficient operation of all equipment.
 
Skills and Qualification
 

  • 7 years of experience in injection molding with a strong understanding of injection molding parameters, materials, and process controls.
  • 5 years of experience in automotive.
  • 5 years of supervisory experience.
 
  • Knowledge of thermoplastic injection, automation, pneumatics, mechanics, hydraulics and SPC metrology.
  • Able to edit robot programs.
  • Strong leadership and people skills.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience with forklift, crane, pallet jack or other auxiliary equipment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work overtime, as necessary.
  • Steel toe shoes/boots required.
 
Essential Functions
 
  • Responsible for leading end-of-shift meetings and ensuring that all relevant details are properly shared with other shifts.
  • Attends beginning of shift meetings with shift crew.
  • Provides direction and guidance to production operators and other technicians on a daily basis.
  • Coordinates job assignments and break reliefs.
  • Responsible for all machine start-ups and shutdowns while correctly filling out required paperwork.
  • First response to all machine, robot, thermolator, and secondary equipment alarms.
  • Makes sure that assigned shift runs smoothly and that all equipment runs at optimum efficiency.
  • Able to take initiative and troubleshoot complex situations.
  • Able to generate ideas for continuous improvement.
  • Responsible for the accurate completion of Process Verification check sheets.
  • Responsible for entering accurate data into our Manufacturing Execution System (MES).
  • Performs the required inspection and SPC of all production at mold start-ups and material changes, as identified in company procedures.
  • Performs inspections on last shot prior to mold change over.
  • Audit variations to mold set-ups (air flow, oil leaks, water leaks, hoses connected), process-actual to process sheet, and process alarms.
  • Responsible for die changing and die setting activities at assigned press.
  • Performs all containment actions including identification of a "clean point” and coordinating the sorting of any suspect nonconforming products.
  • Participates and coordinates real time root cause analysis in conjunction with other team members.
  • Authorized to shut down a press until the root cause and corrective actions are identified.
  • Has authority to shut down a machine if employee safety or the quality of product is not guaranteed.
  • Reports scrap generated on daily basis to appropriate Departments.
  • Initiates tool work orders and obtain samples after verification of root cause analysis.
  • Reports concerns to Manufacturing Engineer and provides follow-up as requested.
  • Provides information to appropriate departments about possible issues with material such as low inventory or contamination.
  • Performs required visual inspections per Work Instruction criteria; reports defects found to Quality Tech.
  • Responsible for 5-S in their assigned area by maintaining safe, clean, organized work area at all times.
 
Education and Language
 
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Associate degree or technical training/certification (preferred)
  • Certified in SPC methods, theory, and technique (preferred)
  • RJG, SEPRO or Staubli training (preferred)
  • Knowledge of 6-S philosophy
