Job Title: Returns Processor
Location: Norwich, CT
Schedule: Sunday – Thursday, 5:30 PM – 2:00 AM
Work Environment: Onsite, refrigerated (~40°F)

Position Summary:

The Returns Processor is responsible for managing returned products from resident yards, ensuring proper documentation, adherence to food safety standards, and accurate inventory and invoicing updates. This highly independent role requires clear communication with transportation and night operations teams and consistent execution of end-of-shift reporting and reconciliation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Verify reason codes for returned products (mispicks, driver shorts, refusals).

  • Ensure returned products meet temperature guidelines and food safety regulations.

  • Inspect returned goods and determine appropriate disposition (e.g., saleable, damaged, expired).

  • Process all documentation (paper and digital) for returns and order adjustments.

  • Perform credit entries and code date verifications; update refusal logs and return-to-stock batch files.

  • Communicate with drivers and supervisors to resolve issues and identify training opportunities.

  • Execute and reconcile end-of-day reports and inventory updates.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook; basic familiarity with Word and Excel.

  • Ability to work independently and handle physical inventory tasks.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in driver check-in, inventory, or warehousing/distribution (food industry preferred).

  • Adaptability to learn new systems and tools quickly.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong team orientation with the ability to work independently.

  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.

  • Accountability and initiative.

Additional Details:

  • In-person interview required (1 round with 1–2 interviewers).

  • Initial training provided on a flexible day shift for 3–8 weeks depending on learning curve.

  • This is not a temp-to-hire role, but conversion is possible based on performance and business need.
