Data Center Technician (Rack & Stack Cable)


We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Data Center Relocation Technician to support critical infrastructure relocation projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the safe deinstallation, transport coordination, and reinstallation of 1U and 2U servers and devices. The role also includes assisting with cabling, decommissioning of outdated equipment, and ensuring all work is performed in accordance with best practices and company standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deinstall 1U and 2U servers and network devices at the source data center, documenting placement and configuration.

  • Reinstall and rack devices at the destination site according to documentation and layout plans.

  • Assist with structured cabling, labeling, and cable management during reinstallation.

  • Perform basic network and power checks to confirm successful installation.

  • Support decommissioning activities, including asset tagging, inventory validation, and proper disposal procedures.

  • Work collaboratively with project managers, network engineers, and logistics teams to ensure smooth transition of hardware.

  • Maintain accurate records of moved equipment, serial numbers, and physical locations.

  • Follow all safety protocols and data security policies throughout the relocation process.

Qualifications:

  • 2 years of experience in a data center or IT hardware environment.

  • Hands-on experience racking and stacking servers, especially 1U and 2U form factors.

  • Familiarity with data center cabling standards (fiber, Cat6, labeling).

  • Basic understanding of network and power connectivity.

  • Ability to lift and maneuver heavy equipment safely (up to 50 lbs).

  • Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.

  • Excellent communication and team collaboration abilities.

  • Flexibility to work outside normal business hours as required by project timelines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with asset management or decommissioning tools.

  • Knowledge of ESD safety practices and chain-of-custody procedures.

  • Data center certifications (e.g., CompTIA Server , BICSI, DCIM tools) are a plus.
