The Injection Molding Specialist is responsible for setting up/ shutting down running all parts of complex injection molds and auxiliary equipment per the Production Department work instructions and the company's quality system procedures.
Essential Functions
- Operating injection molding machines to mold parts and components with customer requirements.
- Responsible for staring up, trouble shoot, shut down, injection molding machines and their auxiliary equipment (robots, dryers, pumps etc.)
- Responsible for mold set up and change over in auxiliary equipment (robots, grippers etc.)
- Responsible for production line press change overs and adjustments.
- Operates, monitors, and adjusts controls to eliminate defects.
- Reviews procedures and work instructions and makes recommendations.
- Operates and controls equipment through continuous monitoring. Using microscopes for visual inspection.
- Performs routine maintenance on machinery including stamping presses and molding machines as directed.
- Meet established production, delivery, and quality targets.
- Performs communication at time of shift change.
- Disposal of scrap according to instructions.
- Inspects, measures, and tests in-process and final product per the established product control plan with precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, indicators, and optical comparators.
- Monitors quality and production output.
- Handles and prepares final product for shipping or storage.
- Communicates equipment problems effectively to maintenance and creates work orders for equipment failures or maintenance needs.
- Completes all required paperwork for each lot.
- Works safely to prevent on-the-job-injuries by using personal protective equipment, by paying attention while working, keeping work area clean and organized, and using proper lifting techniques, exercising good judgment and using all necessary tool guards.
- Reads and interprets blueprints, sketches, drawings or product specifications and customer-provided specifications to determine customer requirements.
- Works in a team environment to complete work.
- Interacts with production supervisor and inventory control to fine tune estimates for materials needed for production depending on what is being manufactured.
- Assists in audits by customers and ISO.
- Performs on the job training and certification of new employees.
- Other duties as defined by the Production Supervisor.
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
- High school diploma or GED equivalent. Vocational Training preferred with an emphasizing electro-mechanical, PLC, hydraulics and pneumatics, or equivalent industrial experience.
