Data Center Engineer – Hyperscale & Server Break/Fix
Location: Greater Atlanta, Georgia
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Nesco Resource is hiring a Data Center Engineer for a full-time, direct hire opportunity supporting hyperscale data center operations and enterprise break/fix needs for a major financial client in the Greater Atlanta, GA area. This is a hands-on role for a technically sharp engineer with experience in server repair, hyperscale infrastructure, and critical facilities operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Server Break/Fix & Hardware Support:

Perform hands-on break/fix repair for enterprise server hardware (Dell, IBM, HPE, and other x86 platforms).

Diagnose and repair components such as motherboards, fans, drives, arrays, lasers, and power supplies.

Open server chassis and perform in-depth troubleshooting without relying on remote support.

Maintain proper documentation of tickets, replaced parts, and system configurations.

Adhere to SLAs and ensure rapid resolution of hardware incidents.
Hyperscale Data Center Engineering:

Operate in hyperscale data center environments, supporting thousands of systems with a focus on reliability and uptime.

Conduct daily infrastructure inspections, escalate abnormal conditions, and remediate hardware failures.

Deploy, install, and decommission hardware assets as needed, adhering to cabling and labeling best practices.

Work safely in cold/hot aisle containment, following ESD guidelines and operational safety protocols.

Assist in hardware lifecycle activities (staging, tracking, inventory, and removal).
Critical Facilities & Environmental Awareness:

Possess working knowledge of electrical and mechanical infrastructure (e.g., UPS, PDU, CRAC, generators).

Collaborate with critical facilities teams to respond to power or HVAC issues when they impact IT hardware.

Understand and follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), methods of procedure (MOPs), and emergency operating procedures (EOPs).
Additional Field Responsibilities:

On occasion, the engineer may be asked to travel to other commercial customer locations in the Atlanta metro area.

Tasks may include break/fix part swaps, server diagnostics, and hands-on support for other clients' server environments.

These visits will be scheduled during business hours and are part of ongoing customer support agreements.
Requirements:
Technical Experience:
-
3 years of experience supporting x86-based servers (Dell, IBM, HPE, etc.) in enterprise environments.

Proven break/fix ability with deep troubleshooting knowledge at the hardware level.

Familiarity with hyperscale data center workflows, tools, and best practices.

Hands-on experience managing equipment in structured cabling and containment systems.

Understanding of basic facilities components that interface with IT hardware.
Certifications & Tools:

CompTIA Server , Dell/IBM/OEM field certifications preferred.

Proficiency using diagnostic tools and firmware update utilities.

Experience with asset management systems and ITSM ticketing platforms (e.g., ServiceNow).

Ownership of personal tools is a strong advantage.

Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs, working in confined or temperature-variable environments.
Preferred Experience:

Previous work supporting hyperscale cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, Meta, or Google.

Familiarity with rapid infrastructure scaling, large hardware deployments, and decommissions.

Background in supporting financial data centers, telecom, or other uptime-sensitive industries.
