Job Title: Transportation Specialist (Shipping Specialist)
Reports To: Transportation Manager

Position Summary:
The Transportation Specialist (Shipping Specialist) is a dynamic, cross-functional role responsible for providing administrative and logistical support across departments such as Scheduling, Transportation, and Operations. This individual will be cross-trained in key functions to ensure seamless coverage during absences, peak periods, or special projects. The ideal candidate is highly adaptable, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities
Operations & Logistics Support
Assist with production scheduling and maintain accuracy in ERP systems.
Support transportation and delivery functions, including documentation, scheduling, and customer communication.
Review and process shipping documents, invoices, and customer returns.
Compile reports and assist with audit preparation and documentation.
Maintain various files and perform daily system backups.
Coordinate cross-departmental communication and ensure timely follow-up on tasks.
Administrative Support
Provide general administrative support when needed
Serve as a backup for operational support roles during vacations or absences.
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
Safety & Compliance
Promote and uphold a safety-first culture in compliance with OSHA and company policies.

Functional/Technical Competencies
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt quickly to changing demands.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Detail-oriented with strong analytical and documentation skills.
Comfortable working independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Business, Operations, or related field preferred.
1–3 years of experience in office administration, logistics, or manufacturing support roles (preferred).
Experience with ERP systems and lean manufacturing environments is a plus.
Previous experience in cross-functional or backup support roles preferred.
