Position Summary: The Production Supervisor is responsible for supervision, training and mentoring employees in the Fabrication department to produce quality products in a safe manner while sustaining lean manufacturing principles.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Employee:
- Assures manning needs are sustained by analyzing production schedule.
- Participates in the interview and selection process of; Roll-Form Operators, Machine Operators, Shear operators, & Welders.
- Motivates, trains, and disciplines employees through; meetings, individual consultations and written communications.
- Performs annual performance evaluations and develops improvement plans accordingly.
- Ensures direct reports are trained adequately on the safest way to do their jobs, and comply with all written safety guidelines.
- Maintains a productive work environment, limiting indirect labor.
- Coordinates daily with Lead to assign employees to specific machines for optimum production.
- Approves department schedules and time off requests, processes end of week approvals for payroll both for full time and temporary employees.
- Produces parts in accordance with the production schedule.
- Communicates changes to Scheduling Supervisor which could hinder on-time delivery.
- Reports accurate production by verification of Operator schedule sheets.
- Analyzes efficiency by utilizing tools including; daily hours worked and machine downtime reports.
- Stays vigilant in monitoring waste and identifies ways to eliminate and reduce scrap.
- Motivates direct reports to sustain and keep areas neat and organized utilizing shadow boards, and tool carts/shelves. Assures scrap & waste bins are emptied often.
- Performs costing of parts.
REQUIREMENTS:
1. Must be able to give accurate direction and follow-up on results.
2. Must be dedicated to implementing Lean manufacturing and demonstrate a high sense of urgency.
3. Must ensure accurate documentation.
4. Must be focused on continuous improvement and quality.
5. Must be capable of visually reading prints, work orders, production schedules, tape measures and gauges.
6. Must be able to communicate with production control, production workers and other management personnel in a team environment.

- Eight to Ten years of experience in manufacturing engineering or a commensurate level of experience with related products, preferably metal work
Preferred Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree with concentration in manufacturing/tooling prefered.
