As a Technical Assistant on the Customer Field and Manufacturing Analytical Team, you will analyze materials and problem-solve, to perform root cause evaluations of paint and coatings. You will work with chemists, engineers, and project leaders within the Coating Innovation Center to assist customers from all SBUs across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with other technical associates to plan, prepare, and execute experiments geared toward root cause analysis of production and line issues.
• Follow standard lab procedures for sample preparation such as extractions, filtering, draw downs, and centrifugation with guidance from senior team members.
• Independently complete analytical testing on liquid paints and coated panels utilizing analytical tools such as FTIR spectroscopy, FTIR microscopy, optical microscopy, UV/VIS, etc.
• Recognize problems and unusual results in their work and enact countermeasures to correct.
• Ability to understand, record and communicate detailed information accurately is required.
• Maintain the CFM labs by restocking supplies, disposing of waste, coordinating repairs, and ordering materials to replenish inventory.

Qualifications:
• High school education with high school chemistry experience
• Computer, mechanical and mathematical skills
• Hands-on laboratory experience a plus
• An associate degree preferred but not required.
Provides support for technical issues. Identifies, researches and resolves routine technical problems of low complexity. Responds to telephone, email and on line requests for technical support. Documents, tracks, and monitors the problem using applicable systems and tools. May coordinate with other teams or departments to resolve user problems. May perform password re-sets for users.
