Managed Care Pharmacy Technician
Remote (Must reside in the Capital District)
$22/hr | Full-Time | Temporary through January 2027
Join a mission-driven team improving access to pharmacy care and optimizing benefits for members! We’re hiring a Managed Care Pharmacy Technician for a remote role with occasional onsite needs — so you must be located in the Capital District of New York.
This is a long-term temporary opportunity running through January 2027, perfect for someone with pharmacy technician certification and managed care or retail pharmacy experience.
What You’ll Do:

Review and process medical exception and prior authorization requests using established clinical guidelines.

Communicate with physicians, pharmacists, and members to provide clarity on pharmacy benefits and coverage.

Provide real-time authorization for vacation supplies, therapy overrides, and more.

Support formulary management tools (e.g., step therapy, quantity limits, age/gender restrictions).

Resolve pharmacy claim issues and research mail-order, specialty, or eligibility-related concerns.

Monitor and troubleshoot Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM) systems and assist with technical testing as needed.

Provide backup support for the pharmacy phone queue.

Work collaboratively on internal pharmacy projects and maintain productivity and quality standards.
What You’ll Need:

Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPT) or 2 additional years of pharmacy experience in lieu of certification.

Minimum 3 years of experience in a retail or managed care pharmacy setting.

Familiarity with PBM systems, pharmacy billing, claims processing, and therapeutic drug categories.

Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills.

Comfort with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Start Date: ASAP
End Date: January 2027
Pay Rate: $22/hr
Schedule: Full-time, M-F, 8:30am-5pm, with occasional OT
