Woodshop Assistant
Local Wood Shop | Full-Time (Potential for Permanent Hire)
About the Role
We're seeking a motivated Woodshop Assistant to join our client. In this hands-on role, you'll support day-to-day production, help maintain quality standards and keep projects moving smoothly. If you're strong, quick on your feet, and love learning new skills, we want to hear from you!
Key Responsibilities
- Operate woodworking machinery safely and efficiently
- Read tape measures and follow production sheets to meet daily targets
- Use basic handheld power tools with precision
- Switch between tasks quickly and flexibly as priorities shift
- Review and understand paperwork, job orders, and process guidelines
- Contribute ideas for workflow improvements—common sense and quick thinking are essential
- Assist with material handling and lifting (up to 100 lbs with help)
- Support forklift operations (training available; not required)
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
- Demonstrated mental acuity and strong problem-solving skills
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and attention to detail
- Self-motivated with a positive, can-do attitude
- Dependable, with reliable transportation to our Polk County location
- Team player who follows instructions and existing processes
Physical Demands
- Frequent lifting and carrying (up to 100 lbs with assistance)—strength is key
- Ability to stand, bend, and move throughout the workday
- Steel-toe shoes required for safety
Schedule & Compensation
- Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–4:00 PM; occasional Saturday work as needed
- Starting pay $16.00 /hr
- Performance-based pay increases
