Specialty Welder

Nesco Resource is hiring a Specialty Welder for a manufacturing client in Corning, NY. This position is responsible for assembling and welding structural components and shelving components throughout the manufacturing process.

The ideal candidate has MIG welding experience, basic knowledge of TIG welding, strong attention to detail, and the ability to read and interpret drawings and weld symbols. This is a hands-on manufacturing position for someone who takes pride in producing quality work and can work both independently and as part of a team.

Monday thru Friday 1st shift
$18 per hour

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform MIG and TIG welding procedures on various structural and shelving components.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, weld symbols, specifications, work orders, and production schedules.
  • Determine proper attachment locations, weld sizes, and configurations based on drawings and specifications.
  • Support spot-welding operations when needed.
  • Inspect completed welds visually to ensure quality and compliance with drawings and specifications.
  • Use chipping hammers, wire brushes, motorized grinders, and wire brushes to clean and finish welded areas.
  • Accurately complete paperwork and production records associated with work performed.
  • Follow established manufacturing practices and written work instructions.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Properly use required personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, welding gloves, leather sleeves/capes, and welding hood.
  • Maintain responsibility for assigned tools and equipment.
  • Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and manufacturing standards.
  • Work effectively with supervisors and other team members.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • MIG welding experience is required.
  • Basic knowledge or experience with TIG welding.
  • Previous manufacturing welding or welder/fitter experience preferred.
  • Associate degree in welding, manufacturing, or a related technical field preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and approximately 2 years of relevant manufacturing welding experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, weld symbols, and specifications.
  • Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic math.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to identify safety concerns and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Willingness to receive constructive feedback and learn new processes.
  • Dependable and able to complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed.
