Position Overview
The Welder / Fabrication Technician is responsible for evaluating, fabricating, modifying, and repairing automotive assets and organizational equipment. This position performs a variety of welding and metal fabrication tasks on light- and heavy-duty vehicles and equipment while maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform welding repairs and modifications on light-duty, heavy-duty, on-road, and off-road vehicles and equipment.
- Fabricate and modify automotive components and equipment to meet operational needs.
- Evaluate materials and supplies required to safely complete repair and fabrication projects.
- Perform equipment upfits and custom modifications as assigned.
- Maintain welding equipment, tools, and shop machinery in safe working condition.
- Inspect completed work to ensure quality and compliance with safety standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Follow all shop safety procedures and use required PPE.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Experience performing MIG, TIG, Stick, or other welding processes.
- Experience with metal fabrication, repair, and modification.
- Ability to read and interpret work orders, measurements, and technical drawings.
- Knowledge of welding safety practices and proper use of shop equipment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.
- Ability to lift materials and work in a physically demanding environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience welding and repairing automotive or heavy equipment.
- Experience with fabrication and custom equipment modifications.
- Experience operating shop tools and fabrication equipment.
- Knowledge of vehicle maintenance and repair.
