The Utility Operator
is an entry-level manufacturing position with the potential for temp-to-hire. This role supports plant manufacturing operations by performing general housekeeping, product packaging, equipment-specific cleaning, and a variety of other duties assigned by Production Leads, Production Supervisors, and members of the Leadership Team.
The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-conscious, willing to learn, and able to work effectively in a manufacturing environment.
Essential Functions
- Perform general housekeeping and maintain a clean, safe work environment.
- Perform various product packaging activities according to established procedures.
- Perform assigned plant support functions as needed.
- Promptly notify appropriate personnel of any issues, problems, safety concerns, or equipment abnormalities.
- Assist and support Production Operators by providing materials and performing necessary functions to help keep equipment operating efficiently.
- Complete and maintain required documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
- Follow all company safety rules, work procedures, policies, and regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Production Leads, Supervisors, or other members of the Leadership Team.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Ability to read and understand written and verbal instructions in English, including safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and product recipes/material information.
- Basic mathematical skills, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide and apply these skills to weights, measurements, volume, speed, and distance.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English in one-on-one and small-group settings.
- Basic problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
- Manual dexterity and the ability to safely operate a variety of hand tools and equipment, including scales, spatulas, barrel carts, hand trucks, utility knives, mixers/blenders, computers, and other manufacturing equipment.
- May be required to obtain and maintain a forklift operator license.
