Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Public Assistance Eligibility Specialist to review applications and determine eligibility for various public assistance programs.
This position involves interviewing applicants, gathering and verifying information, reviewing documentation for accuracy, and helping individuals understand programs and benefits that may be available to them. The ideal candidate is comfortable handling detailed information, communicating with the public, and explaining policies and requirements clearly and professionally.
Key Responsibilities
- Review applications for public assistance programs
- Conduct interactive interviews with applicants and recipients
- Gather information needed to determine program eligibility
- Verify applications are complete and information is accurate
- Follow up with applicants to obtain missing or additional documentation
- Review supporting documentation and make qualification determinations
- Explain program rules, policies, requirements, and next steps
- Help applicants identify assistance programs that may benefit them
- Address customer questions and concerns and determine appropriate resolutions
- Communicate with claimants, representatives, employers, doctors, and State and Federal agencies
- Maintain accurate and detailed case information
- Manage multiple cases and follow-ups while meeting established deadlines
- Follow applicable policies, procedures, and confidentiality requirements
- Attend required meetings, training, or conferences
- Travel to other locations occasionally as required

- Able to manage multiple cases, deadlines, and follow-ups
- Professional when handling sensitive or confidential information
- Patient and comfortable assisting individuals who may be navigating difficult circumstances
- Able to work effectively in a structured, policy-driven environment
