Electrical Test Technician

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Electrical Test Technician to evaluate, test, troubleshoot, and repair power conversion and electrical equipment prior to shipment. This role is responsible for ensuring products meet NEC and UL/CSA standards, engineered specifications, and quality requirements.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assess product evaluations against NEC and UL/CSA standards
  • Review order write-ups, operate components, and verify product quality
  • Perform functional, experience, and compliance testing on power conversion equipment prior to shipment
  • Conduct testing using established procedures, measuring instruments, and computer-based test programs
  • Document test results accurately and completely
  • Collect test data and prepare reports detailing results
  • Work closely with Test and Manufacturing Engineers on test equipment development and improvement
  • Assist in the development, modification, and coordination of test work instructions
  • Perform tests to measure strength, durability, and maintainability as required
  • Install, configure, diagnose, service, and repair electrical equipment prior to shipment
  • Configure and connect system equipment including switchgear, SCCT cabinets, and power ties
  • Perform preliminary inspections and operational testing
  • Read and interpret wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, and engineered specifications
  • Trace electrical circuits, troubleshoot issues, and make necessary repairs
  • Inspect equipment during operation to identify vibration, overheating, leaks, or malfunctioning components
  • Replace defective parts and perform corrective actions to ensure shipment-ready condition
  • Use hand tools and test equipment safely and according to established procedures
  • Perform additional repairs or adjustments to ensure units meet quality and performance requirements

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Basic computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow test procedures and work instructions
  • Ability to document results and communicate findings clearly in English
  • Experience using electrical test equipment, including:
    • Hipot tester
    • Multimeters
    • Wave and power analyzers
    • Oscilloscopes
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical blueprints
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional engineering and manufacturing teams

Shifts/Salary
1st - 630 am to 3 pm - $32.22
2nd - 3 pm to 1130 pm - $33.40
3rd - 11 pm to 730 pm - $33.40
