Position Summary

The Technician Trainee applies job skills and established policies and procedures to complete a variety of laboratory and technical support tasks. This role performs routine and semi-routine assignments, conducts data analysis, communicates research results, and supports project work under the guidance of experienced team members.

The ideal candidate demonstrates strong communication skills, works effectively in a team environment, and is flexible with overtime requirements when needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Apply established procedures and job skills to complete assigned tasks.
  • Perform routine and specified analysis of data.
  • Communicate research procedures and findings clearly for inclusion in reports.
  • Verify the accuracy, applicability, and reasonableness of project work.
  • Recognize deviations from accepted practices and escalate concerns when appropriate.
  • Conduct standard and non-standard technical tasks under close supervision.
  • Keep supervisors regularly informed regarding work progress and status.
  • Operate laboratory and technical equipment following standard operating procedures.
  • Support team objectives and collaborate effectively with coworkers.
  • Assist in training and guiding less experienced staff when needed.
  • Provide input for performance reviews as requested.
  • Make recommendations for process improvements while working within established guidelines.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree in a related field and 1 year of relevant experience; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Basic technical knowledge required to perform routine assignments.
  • Ability to follow standard procedures and operate basic equipment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
