About the Role

We’re seeking an experienced Engineering Documentation Manager to lead a team supporting engineering and manufacturing operations within an established industrial organization.

This role goes beyond general document control. You’ll oversee the accuracy, organization, revision, and distribution of engineering drawings, technical documentation, and controlled records used across engineering and production. You’ll also lead documentation workflows, develop standardized procedures, and partner with engineering and operational teams to ensure technical information remains accurate, current, and accessible.

The ideal candidate brings experience supporting engineering or industrial manufacturing environments, a strong understanding of technical documentation, and the leadership skills needed to improve processes and develop a team.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team responsible for engineering documentation and document control.

  • Oversee the management, revision, approval, distribution, and retention of engineering drawings and technical documentation.

  • Establish and maintain document control procedures to ensure accuracy, version control, and consistency across engineering and manufacturing.

  • Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and other departments to coordinate documentation requirements and resolve discrepancies.

  • Manage team workloads, priorities, and deadlines to support engineering projects and production needs.

  • Maintain accurate technical records within electronic document management systems and related business platforms.

  • Identify workflow gaps and implement improvements that increase documentation accuracy, efficiency, and accessibility.

  • Support internal audits, quality processes, and compliance-related documentation requirements.

What We’re Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience in engineering documentation, technical document control, or a closely related function.

  • Background supporting engineering, industrial manufacturing, or a comparable technical environment.

  • Experience managing engineering drawings, technical records, revision control, and document release processes.

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.

  • Experience with electronic document management systems (EDMS), ERP platforms, or similar systems used to maintain controlled technical information.

  • Previous team leadership or supervisory experience preferred, including assigning work, setting priorities, and developing employees.

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines without compromising accuracy.

  • Demonstrated ability to establish procedures, improve workflows, and maintain consistent documentation standards.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work directly with engineering and manufacturing personnel.

Experience That Could Be Helpful

  • Experience supporting mechanical, electrical, or industrial equipment engineering.

  • Familiarity with engineering change management and controlled drawing revisions.

  • Experience coordinating documentation between Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality.

  • Exposure to quality management systems, internal audits, or regulated documentation processes.

  • Experience improving document control systems, procedures, or departmental workflows.

  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in a technical or related field; equivalent relevant experience may also be considered.

Qualified candidates are encouraged to apply. All inquiries will be handled confidentially.
