Systems Engineer Job in Rochester, NY:

Direct Hire Salary Range: 75,000 - $105,000 based on experience
Our client is seeking a mid-level Systems Engineer with experience in cloud computing, virtualization, disaster recovery, and systems administration to support a broad and dynamic scope of work. Responsibilities range from configuring firewalls and deploying servers to resolving end-user issues and leading cloud migration initiatives. This role is well suited to a candidate who thrives in a varied, fast-paced environment and is comfortable working hands-on across multiple technical disciplines.
Responsibilities of the Systems Engineer Job in Rochester, NY:
- Support Azure cloud migrations and hybrid environments; optimize VMware/Hyper-V virtualization
- Administer Microsoft 365, EntraID (Azure AD), and Intune (identity, conditional access, endpoint management)
- Configure and maintain firewalls, switches, and wireless access points (Fortinet, SonicWALL)
- Deploy and manage on-prem/cloud servers; implement backup and disaster recovery (Acronis, Veeam)
- Maintain documentation and recommend improvements for reliability and security
- 2+ years in Windows systems engineering
- Strong Microsoft stack proficiency (Windows Server, EntraID, Intune, M365, Active Directory)
- Hands-on networking, virtualization, and cloud experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- AZ-104 and AZ-305 certifications highly desired
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills; self-motivated and able to juggle priorities
