Overview
Client is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to support Flight Management System development for a next-generation avionics program. This role focuses on defining software requirements, supporting systems integration, leading technical project execution, and ensuring compliance with aviation certification standards.
The Systems Engineer will work with systems and software engineering teams in a fast-paced development environment to support functional deliveries, verification, validation, and complex system troubleshooting.
Core Responsibilities
- Develop and define avionics and embedded system requirements.
- Support the design and development of advanced systems, including hardware, software, and network components.
- Lead and support execution of complex engineering projects.
- Support systems integration, implementation, deployment, configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Enforce security measures and compliance standards to protect systems and data.
- Conduct testing and integration on lab test benches.
- Support system verification and validation activities.
- Identify and resolve system issues to minimize downtime and maintain operational performance.
- Collaborate with systems engineers, software engineers, and cross-functional teams.
Essential Qualifications, Skills, and Technologies
- Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline such as science, technology, engineering, or mathematics.
- Minimum of 5 years of systems engineering experience.
- Project leadership experience in Flight Management or Flight Guidance.
- Strong systems integration, implementation, and troubleshooting experience.
- Strong technical knowledge of advanced systems engineering technologies.
- Experience with project management tools and methodologies.
- Experience with avionics or embedded systems development.
- Experience defining technical and software requirements.
- System verification and validation experience.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Preferred Skills or Experience
- Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Experience leading complex system integration projects.
- Experience with DOORS NG and Atlassian tools.
- Knowledge of software configuration management and change management.
- Agile development experience.
- Understanding of DO-178B/C.
- Understanding of ARP-4754.
- Verification test plan experience.
- ARINC 429 and signal debugging experience.
- Software development skills.
- Experience working with diverse or global teams.
