Structural Engineer – Industrial Refining

Position Overview

We are seeking a Structural Engineer to support structural engineering activities for a large-scale industrial refining project in Houston, TX. This position will be responsible for structural design, engineering calculations, technical documentation, and multidisciplinary coordination within an industrial/EPC environment.

The ideal candidate will have experience designing structural systems for refineries, petrochemical facilities, chemical plants, oil & gas facilities, or other heavy industrial projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and review structural engineering calculations, designs, and technical deliverables.
  • Support structural systems associated with industrial equipment, process units, buildings, platforms, and facilities.
  • Develop design criteria, specifications, calculations, reports, and engineering documentation.
  • Review structural drawings, layouts, 3D models, and engineering documents.
  • Evaluate and incorporate equipment and vendor loads into structural designs.
  • Coordinate structural requirements with Piping, Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Process, and Civil disciplines.
  • Review vendor drawings, equipment information, and technical documentation.
  • Participate in design reviews, constructability reviews, and technical resolution meetings.
  • Identify and resolve structural engineering issues during design and project execution.
  • Ensure engineering designs comply with applicable codes, standards, specifications, and project requirements.
  • Support project teams with structural engineering expertise throughout the project lifecycle.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Professional experience in structural engineering within industrial facilities.
  • Experience with structural design, engineering calculations, drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Knowledge of applicable structural codes, standards, and engineering practices.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and multidisciplinary coordination skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with engineering, project, construction, and vendor teams.
  • Ability to work onsite in Houston, TX.
