General Description
Ensures that the quality and quantity of packaged goods conforms to the company's standards. Operates and tends machines that package product and works under the general direction of production management.
Safety-Sensitive Position
This position is a safety-sensitive position. Safety-sensitive positions are defined as positions where the employee operates, repairs, maintains or monitors the performance or operation of a motor vehicle, equipment, machinery, or power tools. Safety-sensitive positions also include jobs where the tasks or duties required of the employee could affect the safety or health of the employee performing the task or others.
Essential Duties, Responsibilities & Functions
Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) & Safety
- Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices.
- Follow GMPs at all times.
- Follow good health and hygiene practices including gowning.
- Follow procedures for changing gloves in between raw materials.
- Clean equipment, utensils and room according to approved cleaning procedures.
Machine Operation
- Follow directions on batch production record.
- Check calibration before each run.
- Remove finished packaged items from machine and separate rejected items.
- Regulate machine flow, speed or temperature.
- Stop or reset machines when malfunctions occur, clear machine jams and report malfunctions to Supervisor.
- Stock and sort product for packaging or filling machine operation, and replenish packaging supplies.
Quality Control & Production Monitoring
- Sort, grade, weigh and inspect products, verifying and adjusting product weigh or measurements to meet specifications.
- Monitor production line.
- Monitor the product that is running to confirm everything is running within specs.
- Monitor the screen or lights that will distinguish if it is running high or low and pull the product that is not.
Communication & Teamwork
- Call maintenance with any issues with the equipment.
- Work cooperatively with co-workers and supervisors.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance at work.
- All other duties as assigned.
Marginal Job Functions
- Setting up the processes to run product for production.
- Confirm that everything is set up and running safely.
- Spot check quality while production is running.
Qualifications & Skills Required
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure.
- Ability to speak, read and write in English.
Physical Requirements
- Stand and walk on hard surfaces for long periods of time, up to 4 hours at a time.
- Stand/remain upright and stationary for long periods of time, up to 4 hours.
- Kneel, bend, stoop and squat repetitively.
- Twist and turn repeatedly.
- Reach down, forward and overhead repeatedly.
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE), ear plugs, gloves, lab coat, hair net, face mask, etc.
- Lift up to 50 lbs.
