Steel/Plate Fabrication Receiving Lead

We are seeking an experienced and qualified Receiving Lead
to join our production team. This is a hands-on position that plays a critical role in managing the flow of steel materials and finished products in and out of our facility. The ideal candidate will come from a structural steel, plate work, or fabrication background and understand the physical and operational demands of working in a steel production environment. * This is NOT a "Pick & Pack " Warehouse Position, nor is it a desk job!
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all receiving operations, ensuring accuracy and efficiency
- Load and unload incoming and outgoing shipments using forklifts or cranes as needed
- Verify incoming materials and match against purchase orders or packing lists
- Organize and manage inventory of raw materials and finished goods
- Prepare materials for outbound shipments, ensuring proper packaging and documentation
- Coordinate deliveries and pickups with drivers and logistics providers
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment in accordance with company standards
- Work closely with production, purchasing, and quality teams to ensure material availability and accuracy
- 5 years of shipping and receiving experience within a structural steel, plate, or pipe fabrication environment is required
- Previous experience in a lead or senior-level shipping/receiving role preferred
- Must be comfortable working in a hands-on, physical environment
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to read and interpret shipping documents, bills of lading, material specifications, and related documentation
- Forklift and overhead crane experience preferred
- Familiarity with inventory management systems and basic computer applications
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
