Overview
Client is seeking an IBM Engineering Lifecycle Management (ELM) Architect to lead the design, integration, administration, and optimization of the IBM ELM/Jazz platform supporting safety-critical aerospace development programs. This role will drive Digital Thread initiatives, enabling end-to-end traceability across systems engineering, software, hardware, manufacturing, and verification activities while ensuring compliance with aerospace regulatory standards.
Core Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain integrations between IBM ELM and enterprise platforms including PLM, CAD, ERP, and MES systems.
- Develop and support Digital Thread capabilities using OSLC, REST APIs, and integration middleware.
- Define data federation and synchronization strategies to establish lifecycle-wide traceability and visibility.
- Establish configuration management relationships between systems engineering artifacts and product structures.
- Align IBM ELM workflows with ARP4754 aerospace development processes.
- Track Development Assurance Levels (DAL A-E) across system architectures and engineering activities.
- Develop automated traceability matrices and verification reporting for compliance audits and reviews.
- Administer and configure IBM ELM components including DOORS Next Gen, Engineering Workflow Management (EWM), Engineering Test Management (ETM), Rhapsody, Global Configuration Management (GCM), and Jazz Team Server (JTS).
- Configure project areas, security permissions, workflow templates, and governance controls.
- Troubleshoot platform performance issues and maintain system availability.
- Partner with Quality Assurance teams to align testing workflows and verification activities.
- Manage change requests, defect tracking, and sprint planning processes within EWM.
- Ensure engineering data complies with aerospace, regulatory, and security requirements.
- Develop automation scripts, integrations, plugins, and reporting solutions using OSLC, REST APIs, JavaScript, and Python.
- Create and maintain compliance dashboards and lifecycle management reporting solutions.
Essential Qualifications, Skills, and Technologies
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
- 5 years of experience supporting software or systems engineering tool environments.
- Deep hands-on expertise with IBM Engineering Lifecycle Management (ELM) tools.
- Experience with DOORS Next Gen, EWM, ETM, Rhapsody, GCM, and JTS.
- Experience integrating IBM ELM with enterprise platforms such as Teamcenter, Windchill, or 3DEXPERIENCE.
- Strong Digital Thread architecture and lifecycle integration experience.
- Experience with OSLC, REST APIs, data integration, and lifecycle management automation.
- Strong knowledge of ARP4754A/B aerospace development processes.
- Experience supporting DO-178C and DO-254 compliance activities.
- Experience with Requirements-Based Engineering (RBE) and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
- Scripting and automation experience using JavaScript and/or Python.
- Familiarity with Agile, SAFe, and Waterfall delivery methodologies.
Preferred Skills or Experience
- IBM ELM certifications.
- Experience with IBM Engineering Lifecycle Optimization Integration Adapter.
- Experience developing compliance dashboards, automated reporting, or BIRT-based reporting solutions.
- Experience supporting safety-critical aerospace development programs.
