Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Payroll Expense Processing Specialist to support a high-volume payroll department by processing employee expense reports, ensuring compliance with company policies and government regulations, and providing exceptional internal customer support. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret policies while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate has experience processing expense reports, working with Concur, and supporting multi-state payroll operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process employee expense reports accurately and within established deadlines.
  • Ensure all expense reports comply with company policies and applicable government regulations.
  • Review audit reports to identify processing or system errors and coordinate necessary corrections.
  • Research and resolve employee inquiries regarding expense reports and payroll processing.
  • Review contracts and apply specialized processing requirements for designated employee groups, including union employees.
  • Assist with specialized payroll processing activities and projects requiring advanced payroll knowledge.
  • Maintain organized records to support accurate expense report processing and minimize payment errors.
  • Participate in testing of new payroll systems, process improvements, and system enhancements.
  • Provide training and guidance to team members as needed.
  • Communicate discrepancies, exceptions, and processing issues to the Payroll Supervisor.
  • Support additional payroll and expense processing projects as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a high-volume, multi-state payroll environment.
  • Strong understanding of payroll processes and expense report administration.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify discrepancies and ensure accuracy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience processing employee expense reports.
  • Experience using Concur expense management software.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles.
  • Experience supporting union employee payroll processing.

  • Microsoft Office Suite, including:
