Nesco Resource is seeking a Sr. Mechanical Engineer to join our client's team at their Shelton, CT location. This is a 6-8 month contract assignment.
SUMMARY
In search of an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to support the design, development, and implementation of mechanical systems and products. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on engineering experience, the ability to work independently, and a proven track record managing projects from concept through production.
This role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams including electrical, manufacturing, procurement, and project management to deliver high-quality engineering solutions within schedule and budget requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design and develop mechanical systems, assemblies and components using CAD software.
- Create and review detailed engineering drawings, BOMs and technical documentation.
- Perform mechanical analysis including stress, tolerance, thermal and vibration evaluations.
- Support prototype development, testing, troubleshooting and validation activities.
- Work closely with manufacturing and suppliers to ensure design feasibility and production readiness.
- Identify and implement design improvements for performance, reliability and cost reduction.
- Participate in design reviews and provide technical leadership to engineering teams.
- Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards, safety regulations and company procedures.
- Support field installations, commissioning and issue resolution as required.
- Manage multiple priorities and provide regular project status updates.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Minimum 8–10 years of mechanical engineering experience.
- Strong proficiency with CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Creo or Inventor.
- Experience with mechanical system design, fabrication and manufacturing processes.
- Strong understanding of GD&T, tolerancing and engineering documentation standards.
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical systems and develop practical solutions.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in industrial equipment, transportation, automation or heavy machinery.
- Familiarity with hydraulic, pneumatic or electromechanical systems.
- Project management experience.
- Experience working with suppliers and contract manufacturers.
- PE license is a plus but not required.
- 6 – 8 month contract assignment
- 1st shift, Monday – Friday, 8 hour day with a start time of either 8am or 8:30am (30 min. lunch)
- Pay range: depends on experience
