Nesco Resource is in search of a Sr. Lightspeed Engineer to work for one of our clients based in Bethel, CT.
SUMMARY:
Primarily responsible for developing technical solutions and executing projects for medical device customers using company’s advanced technology. Collaborate with a small local Lightspeed team and with Lightspeed members from other sites to complete prototype projects and lead programs through the PReP (Production Readiness Process) towards production. Lead customer communications providing technical solutions and program updates.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Define, plan, and complete complex Lightspeed projects including multi-site programs per quoted conditions with innovation and urgency, ensuring product quality meets or exceeds technology specific workmanship standards.
• Strong understanding and optimization of advanced parameters and variables on company technology that effect outputs and product quality.
• Independently perform complex setup, system troubleshooting, and process development on company technology to produce acceptable Lightspeed product.
• Take initiative and responsibility to lead the completion of tasks and projects, ensure high quality of deliverables, & work across several departments as required.
• Strong productivity and independence, ability to work under minimal supervision, consistently solves problems independently prior to reaching out for help, continuously seeks out additional responsibilities.
• Participate in project analysis, parameter development, problem solving, and solution implementation for various Lightspeed projects.
• Lead and drive quotes to completion as assigned for complex single & multi-site projects.
• Lead customer calls and internal meetings, communicating effectively and driving progress forward with high quality results.
• Proactively communicate with the customer on issues with a recovery plan, status, and results of an order.
• Able to write advanced programs to measure Lightspeed product using site specific metrology equipment and successfully execute Test Method Validations for product moving into production.
• Read and interpret print specifications on Lightspeed projects, ensure all required visual and geometric measurements are taken and documented per Quality Systems requirements.
• Lead multiple projects through the Production Readiness Process, from Lightspeed to Production driving a cross-functional team to project completion.
• Provide mentorship and technical skill training to Lightspeed Technicians and Associate Engineers, and Applications Development Engineers.
• Document process parameters and project details for each Lightspeed project accurately per company Quality Systems requirements, generating professional and easy to follow setup sheets & work instructions, and completing CAPAs as required.
• Recognize and report unmet customer needs applicable to company technology to the Advanced Technology Group.
• Take ownership of data & metrics that contribute to site success and enforce data integrity, monitor individual data and peer data in company digital systems for accuracy, communicating with the team if discrepancies are identified.
• Allocate time and attention based on what is more important to achieve key goals and objectives, effectively organize and balance tasks with structure and purpose to keep multiple projects on track.
• Seeks continuous self-improvement, open and willing to accept constructive criticism.
• Lead and execute Advanced Technology Group activities and deliverables as assigned.
• Participate in sales support activities including sales presentations, customer visits, and technical seminars.
• Lead cross departmental teams in continuous improvements projects that benefit the company.
• Understanding of all technologies and facilities across the company.
• Ability to adapt quickly and positively to changing priorities and processes.
• Support the company’s overall goals and production problem solving, contributing to company programs as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor of Science degree in an Engineering / Science or equivalent experience.
• Experience with company technology; high precision manufacturing equipment or equivalent (Laser Systems, CNC Machines, Grinding Machines, Tube Drawing Machines... etc.).
• Solid understanding of materials science and materials properties, especially for common medical device materials (Nitinol, Stainless Steels, Titanium & other metals, Medical Polymers and Ceramics).
• Experienced in applying software used on high precision micromanufacturing equipment (G-code, C++, VBA, Various Equipment Specific GUIs… etc.).
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings per GD&T system.
• Ability to troubleshoot and optimize complex processes in an efficient and reliable manner.
• Ability to generate complex drawings, models, and assemblies with 2D & 3D software using GD&T.
• Fluent in Microsoft Office: MS Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint... etc.
• Demonstrated execution and experience with the following: TMV / GRR, Process Capability, Attribute vs. Variable Data in Validation, OQs/PQs, Engineering Study / DOE.
• Experience using computer-controlled measurement systems to create and troubleshoot programs and inspection methods to measure Lightspeed product.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Familiarity with ISO certified Quality Systems in medical device manufacturing.
• Experience in a medical device manufacturing environment.
• Experience designing and manufacturing complex tooling or fixturing for various applications
