Specialist – Banking Operations

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Specialist to support high-volume banking operations and administrative processing. This position primarily focuses on executing routine processing activities according to established procedures while maintaining a high degree of speed, accuracy, and quality.

This is a 100% onsite position, five days per week. Candidates will be required to interview onsite and complete sorting and data entry assessments as part of the interview process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine operational, administrative, and transaction-processing activities according to established procedures.
  • Support functions across credit cards, retail banking, small business banking, consumer lending, mortgage banking, collections, recovery, origination, and/or auto finance.
  • Process, file, record, service, and organize documentation associated with assigned products or processes.
  • Review documentation for accuracy and ensure appropriate procedures are followed.
  • Complete basic processing and administrative tasks assigned by management.
  • Respond to routine billing inquiries, service requests, suggestions, and customer concerns as needed.
  • Open incoming mail and extract paper invoices and checks.
  • Sort payment and non-payment documentation for appropriate processing.
  • Accurately batch work and communicate processing issues to the Workflow Coordinator or Supervisor.
  • Perform high-volume data entry and keying with a strong focus on accuracy.
  • Cross-train in additional functional areas, including mail sorting, keying, reassociation, and data entry, to maintain departmental coverage.
  • Identify and escalate issues or concerns appropriately.
  • Meet established productivity, accuracy, and production goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • College degree preferred.
  • 0–1 years of relevant experience.
  • General office skills or working knowledge of a business environment.
  • Experience handling monetary or transaction-processing functions preferred.
  • Ability to accurately manage high transaction volumes and meet production goals.

Required Skills

  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong 10-key/data entry skills with demonstrated speed and accuracy.
  • Ability to follow clearly defined procedures and instructions.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Comfortable navigating multiple computer systems and applications.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Adaptable and receptive to new processes and changing priorities.
  • Sound judgment and ability to recognize when issues should be escalated.
  • Basic understanding of banking policies, procedures, and government regulations preferred.
  • Ability to perform basic scheduled and non-scheduled maintenance functions.
