Position Overview

The eCommerce Merchandiser Specialist is a key member of the North America Commercial Excellence eCommerce team. This position is responsible for effectively positioning, merchandising, and communicating brands and products across eCommerce channels and platforms.

The specialist will collaborate with eCommerce, marketing, creative, technology, content, and supplier management teams to determine how products should be presented online to create a high-quality customer experience and maximize performance.

Key Responsibilities

eCommerce Merchandising & Product Management

  • Position and communicate products across all eCommerce channels and platforms to provide a high-quality online shopping experience.
  • Manage and maintain virtual eCommerce product shelves.
  • Collaborate with the Manager of Web to understand the current product portfolio and merchandising priorities.
  • Select, promote, update, and manage merchandise across eCommerce properties.
  • Ensure product images meet required resolution, size, and formatting standards.
  • Edit, proofread, and customize product descriptions, features, and benefits to effectively communicate key selling points.
  • Ensure eCommerce merchandising is consistent with overall brand and marketing strategies.
  • Monitor and resolve day-to-day product page, account, and content issues.
  • Update product-specific messaging related to allocation and supply chain status across online platforms.

Analytics & Performance

  • Analyze data to evaluate the effectiveness and performance of product positioning and merchandising.
  • Use performance insights to guide future product positioning and merchandising decisions.
  • Measure personalized campaign performance using metrics such as:
    • Banner views
    • Revenue generated
    • Customer engagement
  • Measure and report on paid advertising performance, including:
    • Views
    • Clicks
    • Transactions
  • Track and report overall engagement and performance of social media campaigns.

Digital Marketing & Personalization

  • Partner with content, creative, and marketing teams to develop personalized eCommerce campaigns for targeted audiences.
  • Coordinate homepage banners and other promotional content.
  • Manage manufacturer-sponsored paid advertisements on the homepage, including appropriate call-to-action links.
  • Ensure digital campaigns align with brand, marketing, and commercial objectives.

Search & SEO

  • Manage and optimize the eCommerce search platform to deliver more accurate and strategic search results.
  • Support search engine optimization (SEO) efforts.
  • Monitor and track search performance to identify opportunities for improvement.

Social Media

  • Manage, schedule, and execute social media content across:
    • Facebook
    • LinkedIn
    • Instagram
    • X/Twitter
  • Monitor customer comments and interactions across social media platforms.
  • Measure and report social media engagement and campaign performance.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with the technology team on website enhancements and ensure timely execution.
  • Collaborate with supplier management teams to ensure new products are effectively marketed through website and print channels.
  • Manage stakeholder groups across multiple functions.
  • Coordinate merchandising review routines.
  • Lead and support additional merchandising projects, meetings, and initiatives as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, or a related field.

Experience

  • 3+ years of eCommerce experience within a B2B environment.
  • Extensive experience working with business customers and suppliers.
  • Experience with copywriting and digital product content.
  • Strong business judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to identify, prioritize, and clearly communicate high-impact initiatives.
  • Animal Health industry experience is preferred.

Technical Skills

  • Knowledge of Content Management Systems (CMS).
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency with:
    • Adobe Creative Suite
    • InDesign
    • Photoshop
    • Illustrator
    • Microsoft Word
    • Microsoft PowerPoint
    • Microsoft Project
    • Microsoft Excel
  • Intermediate to advanced operational knowledge of:
    • SAP Backoffice
    • SAP SmartEdit
    • Stibo or a comparable Product Information/Product Management System
  • Understanding of SEO, digital merchandising, online product positioning, and eCommerce analytics.
