Overview
Client is seeking a Staff Software Engineer specializing in Equipment Integration to develop and support software solutions that connect manufacturing equipment with enterprise platforms such as MES, ERP, SCADA, and other smart factory systems.
This role combines full-stack software engineering with equipment connectivity expertise to enable reliable, scalable, and real-time data exchange across manufacturing operations. The engineer will collaborate with technical and manufacturing teams to support integration initiatives, system performance, and continuous improvement efforts.
Core Responsibilities
• Design, develop, test, and deploy full-stack software solutions for equipment-to-system integration.
• Build backend services using Java, C#, Python, or Node.js, and develop front-end interfaces using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Implement messaging and integration frameworks including ActiveMQ, RabbitMQ, Kafka, and MQTT.
• Connect manufacturing equipment using protocols such as OPC UA, SECS/GEM, TCP/IP, and MQTT.
• Integrate manufacturing equipment with MES, SCADA, and other manufacturing platforms.
• Design, maintain, and optimize databases for equipment data, event tracking, and historical records.
• Troubleshoot connectivity, data flow, and system behavior issues across integrated environments.
• Support deployments, commissioning activities, and production startup efforts.
• Maintain technical documentation and collaborate with architects, IT teams, and manufacturing stakeholders.
• Stay current with Industry 4.0 technologies and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Essential Qualifications, Skills, and Technologies
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of software development experience in full-stack or backend environments.
• Proficiency in Java, C#, Python, or JavaScript.
• Knowledge of OPC UA, SECS/GEM, TCP/IP, or message-queuing technologies.
• Experience with databases, Git, and Agile development tools such as Jira and GitLab.
Preferred Skills or Experience
• Experience with messaging frameworks including ActiveMQ, RabbitMQ, Kafka, and MQTT.
• Familiarity with SCADA platforms such as Ignition or znt Client.
• Familiarity with MES platforms such as Siemens OpCenter or Camstar.
• Experience integrating manufacturing equipment with industrial systems.
• Understanding of manufacturing environments, automation systems, and Industry 4.0 concepts.
• Experience with OSI PI or analytics platforms.
• Strong debugging, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
