Overview
Client is seeking a Software Engineer to develop Data Acquisition and Control Systems for test stands and test facilities supporting aerospace hardware testing. This role will design, test, implement, and modernize software used to collect data, control test equipment, and support real-time communication across multiple controllers.
Core Responsibilities
- Gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications for software development.
- Design, develop, test, and implement Data Acquisition and Control System applications.
- Develop and execute test plans to validate system functionality and requirements compliance.
- Program and integrate PLC-based control solutions, with an emphasis on Allen-Bradley and Beckhoff PLCs.
- Integrate test instruments and hardware into control systems.
- Design networking solutions for real-time data sharing and communication between multiple controllers.
- Prototype and execute tests, including experimental setup, hardware configuration, and software implementation.
- Troubleshoot software and hardware issues during development and deployment.
- Reverse-engineer legacy software and rebuild solutions using current-generation software and hardware.
- Document software designs, build processes, installation procedures, and end-user instructions.
Essential Qualifications, Skills, and Technologies
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Robotics Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of software development experience focused on data acquisition and test or process control systems.
- Strong programming skills in LabVIEW or an equivalent software development environment.
- PLC programming experience, with an emphasis on Allen-Bradley and Beckhoff PLCs.
- Experience integrating test instruments into control systems, including power analyzers, power supplies, pressure scanners, temperature scanners, flow meters, pressure transmitters, or actuators.
- Understanding of networking concepts and data-sharing protocols for multiple real-time controllers.
- Experience independently prototyping and executing tests involving hardware and software.
- Ability to troubleshoot integrated software, hardware, instrumentation, and control-system issues.
- Ability to clearly document technical designs, processes, installation steps, and user instructions.
Preferred Skills or Experience
- LabVIEW instrument driver development or test-equipment integration experience.
- Experience with MATLAB, Simulink, C, C , Python, or LabWindows/CVI.
- Familiarity with NI SystemLink, TestStand, or VeriStand.
- Experience with Bitbucket, Git, SVN, or requirements-tracking systems.
- Mechatronics experience.
- Aerospace hardware testing experience.
Work Details
- Hybrid schedule with three days onsite and two days remote, depending on the project supported.
