Overview

Client is seeking an entry-level Software Engineer to support the design, development, and maintenance of high-quality software systems used in measurement, inspection, gauging, data collection, machine vision, image processing, machine learning, and reporting applications. This role offers the opportunity to work within multidisciplinary engineering teams supporting both early-stage development initiatives and high-volume manufacturing environments.

The ideal candidate will possess strong software development fundamentals, experience with object-oriented programming, and exposure to multiple programming languages and modern development tools. Recent graduates with relevant academic, internship, co-op, or project experience are encouraged to apply.

Core Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and debug software systems supporting manufacturing, automation, measurement, and inspection applications.
• Develop software solutions for data collection, machine vision, image processing, machine learning, and reporting systems.
• Interface with sensors, cameras, lighting systems, motion control devices, and other hardware components.
• Implement advanced software logic to process and analyze data from connected devices and systems.
• Troubleshoot software issues and deliver enhancements, improvements, and bug fixes.
• Participate in software development lifecycle activities, including requirements analysis, design, development, testing, and deployment.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure successful project execution and delivery.
• Follow software development best practices to support efficient and high-quality project completion.

Essential Qualifications, Skills, and Technologies

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 0-3 years of software development experience gained through professional work, internships, co-ops, research projects, or academic projects.
• Strong understanding of object-oriented analysis, design, and programming concepts.
• Experience with a combination of the following technologies:

  • C#
  • Python
  • C++
  • Java
  • MATLAB
  • Web Services
  • Microservices • Familiarity with modern web technologies and frameworks, including:
  • JavaScript
  • TypeScript
  • React
  • Angular
  • Vue.js • Experience using version control systems such as Git, GitLab, Subversion (SVN), or similar tools.
    • Understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) processes and development methodologies.
    • Strong problem-solving, debugging, testing, and quality assurance skills.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to create and present technical materials to various levels within an organization.
    • Demonstrated initiative, attention to detail, and customer-focused mindset.

Preferred Skills or Experience

• Experience working with relational databases and data analysis tools.
• Exposure to enterprise application design, development, and maintenance.
• Knowledge of inter-process communication methods and technologies.
• Basic understanding of industrial automation or control systems.
• Experience with machine vision, image processing, machine learning, or manufacturing-related software applications.
• Master's degree in a related engineering or technical discipline.

Work Details

• Location: Painted Post, NY
• 100% onsite position.
• Domestic travel may be required up to 25% depending on project assignments.
