Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced SMT Machine Operator to set up and operate automated equipment used in the manufacturing of electronic circuit board assemblies. This role is responsible for monitoring equipment and production processes, maintaining quality standards, performing basic machine maintenance, and ensuring jobs are completed according to documented work instructions and specifications.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Set up and operate SMT production equipment, including screen printers, solder paste inspection systems, pick-and-place machines, and reflow ovens.
- Work with supervisors and team leads to set up and run production jobs according to established procedures.
- Monitor products throughout production to ensure quality standards are consistently met.
- Identify quality or equipment issues and take appropriate action to correct minor problems.
- Communicate process or equipment adjustments and larger issues to supervisors or team leads.
- Perform intermediate-level preventative maintenance on production equipment.
- Keep machinery, tools, and work areas clean and in good working condition.
- Complete required production logs, records, and computer transactions.
- Scan barcodes for timekeeping, labor reporting, and material tracking.
- Follow all safety, quality, and production procedures.
- Work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- 3+ years of manufacturing machine operating experience preferred.
- 2+ years of experience manufacturing electronic circuit board assemblies or electronic systems preferred.
- Experience following documented work instructions and production procedures.
- Ability to read and use prints, drawings, travelers, and bills of materials.
- Ability to gather required materials and set up production jobs with minimal supervision.
- Basic knowledge of electronic components, including component types, polarity markings, and values.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify quality issues during production.
- Ability to troubleshoot minor machine or process issues and recognize when additional assistance is required.
- Basic computer skills, including barcode scanning for timekeeping, labor reporting, and material tracking.
- Ability to operate computer-controlled manufacturing equipment.
- IPC-A-610 certification or proficiency is a plus.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work as part of a team.
