Shipping Operations Supervisor
Location: Scotia, NY

Position Summary:
Oversee and support daily outbound shipping operations to ensure customer orders are processed accurately, shipped on schedule, and handled safely and cost-effectively. Coordinate dock activities, direct shipping personnel, manage carrier relationships, resolve operational issues, and drive continuous process improvements to enhance service and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate daily outbound shipping schedules, dock operations, load prioritization, route readiness, and timely shipment departures.
  • Partner with warehouse personnel, transportation providers, customer service, and sales teams to ensure orders are prepared, verified, and dispatched accurately.
  • Monitor loading activities to ensure shipment accuracy, proper documentation, regulatory compliance, and completion of bills of lading, delivery paperwork, and shipping records.
  • Lead, coach, and provide day-to-day guidance to shipping associates, loaders, clerks, and other assigned team members to achieve operational goals.
  • Allocate workloads, monitor productivity, identify workflow constraints, and adjust staffing to meet changing business demands.
  • Investigate and resolve shipping discrepancies, product shortages, damaged freight, delayed departures, and customer delivery issues while implementing corrective actions.
  • Promote a safe work environment by enforcing company safety standards, maintaining organized dock conditions, and ensuring proper equipment usage.
  • Track shipping performance metrics, analyze operational trends, and recommend process improvements that enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve customer satisfaction.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen operational performance, communication, and service quality.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Three or more years of experience in shipping, distribution, warehouse operations, transportation, logistics, or a related environment.
  • Previous supervisory, lead, or team leadership experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of shipping procedures, warehouse operations, load planning, carrier management, inventory control, and distribution processes.
  • Experience using warehouse management systems (WMS), handheld RF scanners, Microsoft Office Suite, and other business applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple tasks, make sound operational decisions, and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
