Shift: Monday - Friday, 8am to 2 or 3pm

Job Overview
The Shipping & Receiving Clerk is responsible for the safe receipt, tracking, storage, movement, and shipment of customer samples, test articles, equipment, and materials within the laboratory. This position plays a critical role in maintaining sample traceability, supporting laboratory operations, and ensuring efficient material flow throughout the facility. The role requires operation of powered industrial equipment, inventory control, material handling, facility support, and participation in laboratory setup, maintenance, and continuous improvement activities.
The Shipping & Receiving Clerk works closely with laboratory technicians, engineers, project managers, and facility personnel to support testing operations while maintaining a safe, organized, and efficient work environment.

Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct all shipping / receiving at the test laboratory.
Identify and label incoming samples and create inventory records in the sample database.
Compare shipments against purchase orders, packing slips, and customer requests.
Inspect incoming materials for damage and report discrepancies.
Prepare outgoing shipments, including packaging, labeling, documentation, and coordination with carriers.
Organize storage areas and move samples between labs as required. Manage retention, disposition, and archival of completed test samples.
Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, overhead cranes, scissor lifts, and other powered industrial equipment as authorized.
Periodically assist laboratory technicians in setup and preparation of mechanical, environmental, high-voltage, and high-power test areas as assigned by supervisor.
Participate in various non-testing activities such as maintenance, calibration, training, cleaning, projects, etc as assigned by supervisor.
Participate in 6S, Lean, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Participate in safety meetings, training, inspections, and corrective actions.
Must be a self-starter with strong drive, initiative, and ability to work with limited management input.


Skills and Experience


Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Ability to communicate well with others.
Ability to work on a personal computer or other related equipment to perform data entry.
Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
Must possess a valid Ohio Driver's License.
Should have previous forklift experience.
Preferred but not required:

Proficient with Microsoft Office Products including Word and Excel.
SAP or other ERP system software.
