Senior Process & Mechanical Designer

Eengineering and manufacturing company specializing in custom process equipment, skid systems, and industrial automation solutions for customers across a wide range of industries including chemical processing, pharmaceuticals, food & beverage, energy, and advanced manufacturing.
We're seeking an experienced Senior Process & Mechanical Designer to lead the design of complex skid-mounted and modular process systems from concept through fabrication.
What You'll Do
- Lead the mechanical and process design of industrial skid and modular systems.
- Develop P&IDs, equipment layouts, piping drawings, and detailed fabrication packages.
- Create and maintain 3D models and 2D drawings using AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, fabrication, controls, and field service teams.
- Participate in client meetings, design reviews, proposals, and cost estimates.
- Mentor junior designers and help establish engineering standards and best practices.
- Support fabrication and commissioning activities as needed.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of industrial process and/or mechanical design experience.
- Strong AutoCAD 2D/3D and SolidWorks skills.
- Experience designing piping systems, process equipment, and skid-mounted assemblies.
- Ability to develop technical documentation and support project estimating.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Drafting/Design, or equivalent experience.
Preferred Experience
- Industrial machinery or automation system design.
- Pressure vessel design, advanced piping layouts, or pipe stress analysis.
- SolidWorks Simulation, ANSYS, or Caesar II.
- ISO 9001, Lean, or Six Sigma experience.
- Experience with 3D point cloud modeling.
Additional Information
- Rochester, NY (onsite)
- Occasional travel (less than 25%)
- Competitive hourly compensation: $35.64-$53.46/hr, based on experience.
