About the Role

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join a growing manufacturing organization in Tulsa. This is a hands-on plant-level accounting role for someone who understands both the financial side of manufacturing and how costs, inventory, production, and project performance connect.

You’ll work closely with Operations, Production, Purchasing, Project Management, and Accounting to monitor costs, analyze margins, manage inventory and work-in-process, and provide financial insight into ongoing manufacturing activity. This position is a great fit for someone who enjoys digging into the numbers, identifying issues, and partnering with operational teams to improve financial performance.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage accounting activities related to manufacturing costs, inventory, WIP, labor, materials, and overhead.

  • Analyze project and production costs against budgets, estimates, and actual results to identify significant variances.

  • Partner with Project Management and Operations on cost-to-complete estimates, project profitability, and margin analysis.

  • Support monthly revenue recognition, accruals, COGS, contract asset/liability reconciliations, and financial close activities.

  • Monitor inventory valuation, cycle counts, material usage, manufacturing variances, and inventory reconciliations.

  • Review BOMs, routings, labor costs, material costs, and overhead to identify opportunities for improved cost control.

  • Track project backlog and provide financial reporting that helps leadership understand future production and revenue activity.

  • Analyze changes in project scope and support the financial review of change orders and cost impacts.

  • Prepare and maintain detailed Excel-based financial reports, reconciliations, and analysis.

  • Support financial audits, tax requests, internal controls, and documentation related to accounting policies and procedures.

  • Identify potential project losses or margin concerns and communicate issues to appropriate leadership.

  • Work cross-functionally with Accounting, Purchasing, Engineering, Production, and Operations to improve financial visibility and accuracy.

What We’re Looking For

  • 3+ years of corporate accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing, industrial, engineering, construction, or another project-based environment.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.

  • Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, cost accounting, and month-end close.

  • Experience with inventory, WIP, COGS, standard/actual costs, and manufacturing variances.

  • Experience analyzing project costs, budgets, margins, or cost-to-complete estimates.

  • Strong Excel skills and the ability to work with large amounts of financial and operational data.

  • Experience working with an ERP system.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with excellent attention to detail.

  • Comfortable working directly with both accounting and non-accounting teams.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.

Experience That Could Be Helpful

  • Percentage-of-completion or other project-based revenue recognition experience.

  • Experience with ASC 606 or long-term contract accounting.

  • Custom, engineered-to-order, or project-based manufacturing.

  • Standard costing and manufacturing variance analysis.

  • Experience with complex BOMs, routings, inventory, and production costing.

  • Experience with project accounting, backlog reporting, or cost-to-complete analysis.

  • Advanced Excel skills including PivotTables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, complex formulas, Power Query, or similar data-analysis tools.

  • Experience with ERP systems used in manufacturing or other complex operational environments.

Who This Could Be a Great Fit For

This is more than a traditional general accounting position. We’re looking for someone who can connect financial information to what is actually happening across projects, inventory, purchasing, and production.

If you enjoy analyzing costs, investigating variances, understanding project profitability, and working directly with operational teams, this role offers the opportunity to have a meaningful impact on the financial performance of a manufacturing operation.
