Screen Prep Technician (Temp-to-Hire) – 4 Day Work Week

A well-established, locally owned silk screen printing company is seeking a Screen Prep Technician to join their team. This is a temp-to-hire opportunity with long-term potential for the right candidate.

Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM (30 hours/week)
Pay:$15–$18/hour, depending on experience
Perks: 4-day work week


Position Overview

The Screen Prep Technician is responsible for producing large-format screens used in the printing process. This role requires strong attention to detail, independence, and the ability to stay focused in a quiet, self-directed work environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and set up large-format screens for production
  • Apply and "shoot” images onto screens
  • Perform detailed touch-up work, including fine text, barcodes, and part numbers
  • Clean and maintain screens using water, chemicals, and industrial power washers
  • Conduct quality control inspections to ensure accuracy and clarity
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Serve as a backup for ink milling operations(approximately once per month for a few days)

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Work is performed in a separate, self-directed station away from the main production floor
  • Ability to work independently for extended periods
  • Strong, consistent odor present due to printing materials
  • Yellow-tinted lighting used throughout the work area
  • Requires standing, bending, and lifting throughout the shift
  • Handling of large screens; lifting up to 30 lbs
  • Exposure to water, cleaning solutions, and industrial equipment
  • Strong visual acuity (with or without corrective lenses) for detailed work involving small text and fine lines

Qualifications

  • Prior screen printing or manufacturing experience preferred
  • Basic computer skills are a plus
  • Ability to multitask and work independently after training
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Calm, patient demeanor with the ability to stay focused in a quiet environment
  • Reliable transportation required (early start time; no public transit available)
