The Sanitation Operator is responsible for cleaning, sanitizing, and maintaining production equipment, processing areas, and facility environments to ensure compliance with food safety, quality, and regulatory standards. This role plays a critical part in maintaining a safe and hygienic manufacturing environment while supporting efficient production operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily cleaning and sanitation of production equipment, machinery, utensils, and facility areas.
- Follow established sanitation procedures, SSOPs (Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures), and GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices).
- Disassemble and reassemble production equipment for thorough cleaning.
- Safely handle and use cleaning chemicals according to company policies and safety regulations.
- Conduct pre-operational inspections to verify equipment cleanliness and readiness for production.
- Complete sanitation documentation and maintain accurate cleaning records.
- Identify and report maintenance, safety, or equipment issues to supervisors.
- Remove waste, debris, and recyclable materials from production areas.
- Assist with environmental monitoring and food safety compliance programs.
- Support production teams during equipment changeovers and sanitation activities.
- Follow all company safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous sanitation, janitorial, food manufacturing, or production experience preferred.
- Knowledge of food safety standards and sanitation practices is a plus.
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Basic math and documentation skills.

- Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends, overtime, and overnight sanitation shifts as needed.
