Sanitation Assistant

Nesco Resource is currently seeking a Sanitation Assistant for a long-time client in Ferndale, MI.

Shift

  • 10:00 PM – 6:30 AM, Monday through Friday
  • Overtime available based on production needs

Job Summary

The Sanitation Assistant is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing production equipment, work areas, and facility spaces to maintain a safe, clean, and sanitary manufacturing environment. This position requires attention to detail and the ability to work in a cold production environment.

Essential Job Duties

  • Retrieve cleaning chemicals from the designated storage area and prepare the foamer/sprayer as needed.
  • Apply cleaning chemicals to appropriate equipment and production areas using a foaming unit.
  • Remove leftover packaging materials and food products from production areas.
  • Pre-rinse equipment and surfaces using a water hose to remove food residue.
  • Apply soap using a mobile foaming unit and scrub equipment with the appropriate color-coded brush.
  • Thoroughly rinse equipment and surfaces to remove all soap residue.
  • Inspect equipment and work areas for cleanliness and re-clean as necessary.
  • Apply sanitizer using the designated sanitizer hose.
  • Clean and maintain floors, drains, walls, production areas, and exterior areas of the facility as directed.
  • Monitor production and facility areas for sanitation issues and report deficiencies to the Sanitation Supervisor.
  • Complete required sanitation inspection and audit forms.
  • Remove plastic wrap and unlock equipment as part of the sanitation process.
  • Perform general janitorial duties, including sweeping, mopping, emptying trash, wiping down surfaces, and cleaning and stocking restrooms, breakrooms, and common areas.
  • Assist with routine facility cleaning, including dusting, cleaning windows, and maintaining clean entryways.
  • Follow all company safety, sanitation, and chemical handling procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

  • Must be comfortable working in cold temperatures, typically 40 F or below.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to regularly bend, reach, stoop, and perform repetitive cleaning activities.
  • Ability to safely handle cleaning equipment and chemicals.
  • Must be able to maintain a consistent pace while performing physically demanding cleaning tasks.

Qualifications

  • Previous sanitation, janitorial, food production, or manufacturing experience is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to work in a cold production environment.
