Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize production equipment, machinery, conveyors, packaging lines, and processing areas according to established sanitation procedures.
- Perform routine cleaning of warehouse floors, storage racks, docks, workstations, and common areas.
- Disassemble, clean, and reassemble equipment as required for deep sanitation.
- Sweep, mop, scrub, pressure wash, and sanitize floors, walls, drains, and other facility surfaces.
- Remove trash, recyclables, food waste, and production byproducts from designated areas.
- Safely handle, mix, and apply cleaning chemicals and sanitizers according to company procedures and Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
- Complete sanitation logs, cleaning records, and required documentation accurately and on time.
- Conduct pre-operational inspections to verify cleanliness and readiness of equipment and production areas.
- Identify and report food safety concerns, equipment issues, and sanitation deficiencies to supervisors.
- Assist with pest control prevention efforts by maintaining facility cleanliness and identifying potential risks.
- Follow all food safety, quality assurance, GMP, HACCP, OSHA, and company safety requirements.
- Support production and maintenance teams during changeovers, shutdowns, and special cleaning projects.
- Participate in training programs and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous sanitation, janitorial, warehouse, manufacturing, or food production experience preferred.
- Ability to work independently and follow detailed cleaning procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to food safety and quality standards.
- Ability to read and understand safety instructions, work orders, and sanitation procedures.
- Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.
Preferred
- Experience working in a food manufacturing, beverage production, coffee roasting, or packaging environment.
- Knowledge of GMP, HACCP, FDA, or USDA regulations.
- Experience using industrial sanitation equipment and cleaning chemicals.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, climb, and reach throughout the shift.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Ability to push, pull, and move sanitation equipment and supplies.
- Ability to work in varying temperatures, including warm production areas and refrigerated storage environments.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including gloves, goggles, face shields, and protective clothing.
Work Environment
This position works in a food manufacturing and warehouse facility that produces coffee, tea, and packaged food products. Employees may be exposed to dust, noise, cleaning chemicals, moisture, and varying temperatures. Strict adherence to food safety, sanitation, hygiene, and workplace safety requirements is essential.
