Position Summary

The Food Can Rework Associate is responsible for inspecting, sorting, reworking, and repackaging canned food products to ensure quality standards are met. This position requires attention to detail, adherence to food safety regulations, and the ability to work efficiently in a production environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Inspect canned food products for dents, defects, labeling errors, leaks, and other quality issues.
  • Sort and separate acceptable and non-conforming products according to company guidelines.
  • Remove damaged products from production lines and designated inventory.
  • Re-label, repackage, and rework products as directed by supervisors.
  • Assemble boxes, cartons, and packaging materials for finished goods.
  • Maintain accurate counts of products processed and reworked.
  • Follow all food safety, quality assurance, and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) requirements.
  • Keep work areas clean, organized, and sanitary.
  • Safely operate basic warehouse and production equipment as required.
  • Report quality concerns, equipment malfunctions, or safety hazards to management.
  • Assist with general production and warehouse duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous manufacturing, production, warehouse, or food processing experience preferred.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 50 pounds.
  • Repetitive hand and arm movements throughout the shift.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and twist as needed.
  • Ability to work in varying warehouse or production temperatures.

Work Environment

  • Food manufacturing and warehouse setting.
  • Exposure to production equipment, packaging materials, and moderate noise levels.
  • Must wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and comply with all safety and food handling procedures.

This position plays a critical role in ensuring products meet company quality standards before reaching customers.
