Quality Technician

Position: Quality Technician
Reports To: Quality Supervisor and / or Quality Manager
Hours: Full-time
Shift: Mon-Thu 7:30am-4:30pm and Fri 7:20am-2:00pm
General Purpose : The Quality Technician is responsible for visual and physical inspection, sampling, testing and control of parts, products and raw materials to conform to established specifications, applicable standards of API and the ISO 9001 Quality System. These Inspections and Tests will require utilization of various kinds of gauges, tools and measuring and test equipment both mechanical and electrical. Provides training to shop personnel related to quality processes. Provides on-hands leadership related to product improvement and problem solving.

Essential Functions:
The Quality Technician is routinely responsible for the following:

1. Ensure a safe and clean work environment.
2. Adhere to all applicable company policies, procedures, and management directives
3. Perform first article and incoming inspections to ensure compliance of procured parts and materials (dispositioning non-conforming product as necessary)
4. Demonstrate proficiency at using precision inspection measuring and test equipment.
5. Manage and maintain the Company's quality inspection and product release programs for incoming and in-process materials and components, processes and finished goods
6. Manage and perform gauge/instrument calibrations
7. Routinely communicate with production personnel regarding any quality related needs or issues
8. Monitor and maintain equipment/tool performance
9. Verifies and supports dispositions of nonconforming materials whether internal or customer returns through an RMA procedure. This includes ensuring the integrity of the quality data input in the Nonconforming Material Report database. Interface with internal and external personnel may be required in the performance of these activities
10. Will have exposure to other quality roles including quality system management, calibration, and customer required documentation preparation (FAI, PPAP, etc.)
11. Will step in for Quality Manager when the time arises
12. Will step in and run production as an operator, as needed and determined by Management.
13. Other duties as assigned.

1. Must have technical knowledge of Smart scope and optical comparators
2. Ability to generate first article inspections, capability studies, gauge R&R studies, and special tests
3. Manage and perform gauge/instrument calibrations
4. Understanding of geometrical dimensions and tolerances is expected
5. Must have knowledge of ISO-9001 and compliance requirements
6. Understand all aspects of quality systems, understand control plans and data collection
7. Advanced blueprint reading and interpretation
8. Must have AAS degree or equivalent work experience
9. Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives with minimal supervision

2. Handling (holding, grasping, etc.) – manual manipulation
3. Wrist motion (repetitive flexation / rotation)
4. Stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, bend to the floor
5. Reach across or upward with hands and arms to retrieve parts or boxes of product
6. Stoop and/or crouch to reach and move parts or boxes of product
7. Lift or exert up to 20 pounds of force to move objects frequently
8. Lift or exert up to 30 pounds of force to move objects occasionally

Visual Activity
Near acuity and accommodation are required for reading work instructions, use of computers, and inspection of parts

Hearing Ability
Ability to monitor machine sound changes to take appropriate action and/or notify appropriate personnel

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00-$23.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 hours per week
