Purchasing Specialist
We are seeking an experienced Purchasing Specialist to support procurement activities and help ensure materials, services, and tools are available when needed to support manufacturing and production operations. This position will work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Finance, and Production Control teams while building strong relationships with suppliers.
The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and manage purchase orders for materials, services, equipment, and specialized tools.
- Partner with Engineering and Manufacturing teams to coordinate sourcing activities and ensure purchasing needs are addressed on schedule.
- Obtain, evaluate, and compare supplier quotes to identify the best combination of cost, quality, and delivery.
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and other commercial conditions with suppliers.
- Develop and maintain relationships with existing and potential suppliers.
- Evaluate supplier capabilities and assist with the qualification of new vendors.
- Monitor supplier performance and work to strengthen supplier relationships and overall performance.
- Participate in supplier visits and evaluations as needed.
- Identify and implement opportunities to reduce costs while maintaining quality and delivery expectations.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives and cross-functional projects.
- Manage special projects and other purchasing-related responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, or a related field preferred.
- 2–4 years of purchasing, procurement, supply chain, or related experience preferred.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication abilities.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Confident negotiation skills and the ability to work effectively with suppliers.
- Ability to understand and utilize inventory planning and purchasing systems.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard computer applications.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with multiple departments and levels of an organization.
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and follow-through.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and consistently meet deadlines.
