Job Title: Punch Press Operator
Location: Lebanon, KY
Reports to: Shift Lead or Operations Manager
Job Summary
The Punch Press Operator is responsible for setting up and operating a punch press machine to form and shape metal parts for automotive trim applications. The operator must ensure production runs meet high standards of quality and efficiency while strictly adhering to safety protocols.
Essential duties and responsibilities

  • Machine Operation: Set up, operate, and tend a punch press to trim, punch, shape, and form metal stock according to specifications.
  • Die Installation: Assemble, install, and align dies in the press, using measuring tools such as feelers, shims, and templates.
  • Material Handling: Position and secure the workpiece against stops on the machine bed or die to ensure accurate and repeatable results. Load and unload raw materials, which may include aluminum or stainless steel, into the machine.
  • Quality Control: Perform in-process and final inspections of products using gauges, calipers, micrometers, and other measurement equipment to check for conformance to blueprints and work orders.
  • Safety Adherence: Wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow all company and departmental safety rules and procedures. Keep the work area clean, orderly, and organized.
  • Maintenance: Conduct routine checks and basic preventative maintenance on the press to ensure it remains in proper working order. Lubricate machines as needed.
  • Troubleshooting: Observe press operation to detect any malfunctions or misalignment and make necessary adjustments to correct errors.
  • Documentation: Complete production logs, quality control documents, and other required paperwork.
  • Teamwork: Communicate effectively with other workers and assist team members when needed to promote a collaborative and efficient workflow.
  • Cross-Training: Be willing to learn and operate other fabrication equipment as required.
Qualifications
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Experience: Previous experience operating a punch press or similar metal fabrication machinery is preferred.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills.
    • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and other technical documents.
    • Proficiency with precision measuring tools.
    • Mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Excellent attention to detail, as precision is crucial in this role.
    • Strong safety-conscious attitude.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
    • Good hand-eye coordination.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to stand, walk, squat, kneel, bend, and twist for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds frequently.
  • Requires close mental and visual attention for sustained periods.
  • Willingness to work in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures.
